Main Street: Elfin Cove

Here I am standing on the boardwalk in Elfin Cove. Behind me is ‘downtown’ Elfin Cove. Since there are no roads or cars in Elfin Cove, this boardwalk serves as ‘main street’. There is a small general store in town, as well as a small post office, school and pub.

Thar she blows!

Each day we’d see at least 2 humpback whales. They are all over the place up in the Glacier Bay area, where they spend their summers feeding and raising their young. Here is a picture of one of our closer encounters.

Chris’ big fish

Besides Uncle Rick, dad and myself we shared the boat with Chris and Gary..two guys from eastern Washington and Idaho. Leroy was our guide, and the owner of the lodge. Here we see Chris bringing in the largest halibut caught during our trip, a 128 lb tasty treat.
