Mary Talks…

Joe: “Mary, why don’t you write something in the blog? Go ahead!”
Mary: (whiney voice) “I don’t want to write anything! I have nothing to sayyyy..”

Hardware Failure

“Captain, I’ve lost the main display!”
Tonight I burnt out my ATI 9600 256meg video card. I don’t blame it, it’s been working hard for me while editing video, and has been pumping out the fps during marathon Battlefield 2 games. She probably collapsed of exhaustion. She has served me well over the past year and [...]

Elemenohpee is the Place to Be

If you’ve poked around my blog at all, you’ve probably noticed an occasional comment from a guy named Scott.
I’ve known Scott since the early 1990s, when we both studied Chinese at Western Washington University. We were both in Beijing at the same time, living in the same dorm and partying with the same people.
For most [...]

Fame

Our chubby cat, Chloe is famous now.
I’ve been occasionally emailing a local TV reporter who keeps a blog on KGW.com. She has been showing pictures of pets, and so I sent her the picture of Chloe in the basket (as seen in the post below this one).
She asked to post it on her blog, and [...]

Gratuitous Cat Pictures 2

Many of you already know this, but Mary and I have two cats.
Technically, they are Mary’s cats, as she got them shortly before we first met.
One vomits occasionally and enjoys CATapulting her heavy frame onto the bed while we sleep, shaking us from our slumber. The other frequently pleads to explore the garage and possesses [...]

Homeruns and Hormones

Right now, a local Little League team, the MurrayHill All-Stars, is playing in the Little League World Series. It is the first time an Oregon team has made it to World Series since 1958.
In looking over the rosters, I noticed a 6′8″ 13 year old kid playing for the Saudi Arabian team. And yes, you [...]

Vegetables Gone Mad

I wanted to share with you all some interesting specimens from our veggie garden. We have an orange/yellow beefsteak tomato plant, and a purple pepper plant (bell variety).
The orange tomato is bizarre to cut open, it’s orange all the way though..looks like it should be sweet like an Orange.

My First YouTube Video

I’m likin’ this YouTube dealy bobber…I set up an account tonight, and posted my first video.
A couple months back, I was auditioning video game recording software. I made a few videos while playing Battlefield 2 online. This is one of the first videos I made with the recorder, and at the end of it you [...]

The Wonder of Wireless

The wispy clouds of sunset soar above me now, like strands of pink cotton candy against a turquoise sky.
Being wireless is fantastic. Being able to sit in comfort on my porch, enjoying this summer’s eve while writing an entry in my blog is darn near luxurious.
Two things have ushered in my wireless age; the acquisition [...]

Top 12 TV Themes

It is with great pleasure I present my Top 12 TV themes of all time:
12. Simon and Simon — “A witty, action-packed show starring Jameson Parker and Gerald McRainey that you may not remember. The theme featured a cowbell (WE NEED MORE COWBELL) part that rocked!”
11. Different Strokes — “Whatch you talkin’ ’bout Joe!? In [...]
