For Portlanders Only

Like nostalgia? Those of you in Portland (or those that grew up here) might find this interesting.
http://platypuscomix.cartoonsdammit.com/fpo/
On it, you’ll find old clips from the local Portland TV stations (be sure to check out the 1 year anniversary of St Helens eruption; the reporter likens St Helens to a woman’s bosom. No joke.) You’ll also [...]

China Journals: Entry 1

Recently I found a journal I kept during my studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University in Beijing back in the mid 1990s. I thought they might make for some interesting blog entries, so I’m going to post them, beginning with this entry. I was too lazy (and busy) to make daily entries back then but [...]

VAN HALEN ROCKS

Will David Lee Roth screw this up?
I never fully appreciated Van Halen as a rock group until my college roommate Charlie introduced me to the nuances in their music. Before that, they were just another Top 40 rock band that pumped out of my stereo or whose rock ballads were awkwardly swayed to in high [...]

Welcome to my new home!

Step on in, no need to remove your shoes.
This is where my blog will reside going forward. I’ve been with blogger since the inception of ‘The Adventures of JoMa’ back in October of 2004. Recently, I decided to see if the grass really was greener, so to speak, and it actually is!
Please update your [...]

I’ll Take Potpourri for 100, Alex

Here I sit, Mary chatting with her cousin on the phone while Howie mugs for the camera on Deal of No Deal.
Sounds like a perfect time for a potpourri post!
Loss of the Rings 2: On Sunday, after all the snow had melted I easily located Mary’s wedding ring amongst the grass in the front [...]

Cellphone Cam Theatre: XBox Flavored Fruit Rollups

Spotted in Fred Meyer:
Upon closer inspection, these apparently aren’t the injection-molded plastic flavored fruit roll-ups I was expecting; it’s the more obvious choice “MegaBerry” (whatever that is).
Where do Mega Berries grow anyway? Hopefully no where near dingleberries. I’m wondering if they’ll come out with a “Bill Gates-alicious” Flavor next, or maybe even an “AntiTrust Extreme [...]

Loss of the Rings

The following is 98% true.
Many hours ago, in the icy waste known as FrontYard, a raven-haired woman named Mary was frolicking. Her handsome husband, the warrior known as Joe accompanied her, enjoying the arrival of the winter snow amongst the birds, animals and tree gnomes.
The ring finger of the maid Mary’s left hand was decorated [...]

Winter Blast 2007

The weatherman blew it big time.
The most daring forecast I saw this past weekend presented the possibility of a few flakes Tuesday morning. “Nothing to be concerned with,” was the common refrain from the weather forecasters.
This morning, we awoke to a steady snow fall that continued until mid-day, when the sky opened up a bit. [...]
